Music and Singing Competitions

irish_instrumentsINSTRUMENTS – Specific instruments listed in the Syllabus include the tin whistle, fiddle, accordion  – BUT…. register under the “Misc.” category to play the flute, uilleann pipes, concertina, harp, bodhrán, spoons/bones, píob mhór (the big bagpipes), bagpipe practice chanter, banjo, mouth organ or any instrument of the entrant’s choice.

SINGING – Contestants sing a song in either Irish or English, in the “sean nos” style (unaccompanied, a cappella).

ONLINE ENTRIES – may be made through www.efeis.com (look for the “music” tab;  if you don’t find your correct age/ability level, register under any, and we will sort it out at the Feis;  please note that musicians who are not also competing in dancing competitions may use this site to register for the musical competitions, but the site might, in places, refer to them as “dancers”.  If you have trouble nagigating eFeis, just register by mail, or on the field on the day of the Feis (see below).

ON-FIELD ENTRIES – don’t worry if you miss any of the entry deadlines described in the Syllabus for the music or singing competitions, please feel free to come and compete anyway, we will be happy to register you on the day of the Feis; just speak with the music and singing judges.

SINGING COMPETITIONS:

Entrants will sing their choice of Irish song in the traditional style in Irish or English (no accompaniment).  Come, let us hear your “party piece”!
